California offers some of the best places to surf in the world. Three of the states most popular surfing spots are described here:

1. Rincon - One of the best spots for surfers of all levels, Rincon is located south of Santa Barbara and features three take-off spots known as The Indicator, The River Mouth, and The Cove. This area is known for its consistent series of ocean waves referred to as swell.

2. Cardiff Reef - Located near Encinitas, Cardiff Reef’s flat and shallow topography creates a variety of wave sizes, making the area ideal for surfers of all skill levels. Cardiff Reef is appreciated for its smooth and consistent waves throughout the entire year.

3. The Wedge - A Newport Beach-located surf spot, the Wedge is best suited for daring and experienced surfers since the waves here can be as tall as 30 feet. The Wedge is also known for a deep wave called a backwash ride which moves very quickly and breaks at the shoreline.
